MALE HAIR LOSS: HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M LOSING HAIR?
Male-pattern baldness (MPB) is thought to be caused by changes in hormone levels during a man’s life. Genetic factors also affect the likelihood of male-pattern baldness.
Scientists believe that carriers of the MPB gene have hair follicles more sensitive to a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which gradually shrinks the hair follicle and prevents further hair growth over time.
Other causes of hair loss include nutritional deficiencies, infections, and some psychological conditions.
Hair loss treatment for men includes medications, laser and light therapies, and hair transplants. However, the biggest drawback of these typical treatments is that they don’t take into account each individual root hair & scalp condition. Instead of solving hair loss, the treatments often provide minimal or negligible results.
