What’s the difference between Ablative and Non Ablative Lasers?

Ablative and Non-Ablative lasers are both rejuvenation tools for the skin. On this note, it’s imperative to understand the difference between these two before settling on any particular treatment

Will Surgical Arts stated that the basic difference between ablative and non-ablative treatments is that ablative lasers remove the top layer of skin, while non-ablative lasers works by heating up the underlying skin tissue (without harming the surface) so that your body stimulates new collagen.

That being said, by nature, Ablative lasers can treat wrinkles, scars as well as skin discolouration. However, it is more invasive for the skin as compared to Non-Ablative lasers & can result in skin bleeding & scabbing during the recovery period.

On the other hand, Non-Ablative lasers are known for improving overall skin textures and tone. For some, this can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines, mild wrinkles as well as treating & reducing pigmentation. Without damaging your skin layer, non-ablative lasers are able to treat your skin concerns.

At Only Aesthetics, all our treatments are Non-Ablative in nature. In particular, one of our more popular lasers – Glass Skin Laser uses a pure yellow laser that is the first & currently the only laser that works two options – for treating skin pigmentation and skin rejuvenation.

The yellow wavelength is able to produce 40% higher absorption in blood as compared to its predecessor, green laser. This translates to less power being required during treatment and therefore, minimal side effects.
