Shaving, waxing, or IPL Hair Removal?
It’s no secret that women spend a lot more time and effort to be not only presentable but also the best possible looking version of ourselves every time we step out of that door and present ourselves to the world. Sure, it is 2015, more and more men start to spend time and effort to look good. Everyone has this one male friend who is always dressed to kill, but, it is 2015, women have gone beyond “dress to kill” and the make-ups to something just a little bit more personal… I’m talking about body hair. Lucky for guys, they don’t have to deal with underarm hairs. Nowadays, more and more women are quite confused on which really works best, shaving, waxing or the latest IPL hair removal.
Common hair removal techniques
Now, the idea of body hair removal isn’t new, as technology advances, we as a society also enjoy greater advances in the methods. Two of the most traditional techniques are shaving and waxing, each of them has a loyal following. Shaving is hair removal 101, and likely the first attempt for most people. While it offers the convenience of doing it yourself at home, shaving only remove partial portion of the body hair, leaving the follicle where it is and because of that, the hair grows back relatively faster the most other options. In comparison, waxing has a higher chance of removing hair follicles, however, it is not uncommon that it doesn’t. Though it is generally more effective than shaving, the pain that associates with waxing has kept many from giving it a try (or sticking to it.).
However, they are not the only options, for example, for those who are tired of spending way too much time shaving or having someone pull your body hair off with wax, laser or IPL hair removal is perhaps something worth looking into.
What is IPL?
IPL stands for “intense pulsed light”, the treatment basically deliver rapid pulses of high-intensity light to the area being treated, the light then turns into heat and destroy the hair follicle from the base. You see results immediately after your first treatment, but, on an average, people need 9-10 treatments for the best lasting results. Much like waxing, all you have to do is just lie down and relax. But unlike waxing, it only causes minimising discomfort during the treatment, depends on your sensitive level. Before you put your hair in someone’s hand, make sure your technician is certified and well trained.
IPL hair removal takes the grown and hair out of Ingrown hair.
Now, this is the area that really makes this treatment stands out among the three, there are two types of women in this world, the ones that get absolutely no ingrown or bumps whatsoever even if they try, and the poor, unfortunate souls that do.
Shaving and waxing both could result in some ingrown or bumps here and there even with proper care before and after the treatment. And the journey of fighting ingrown and bumps could be a long and winding road. Sometimes even all the aloe vera in the world can’t do much to help.
Remember when I mentioned in IPL hair treatment, the light destroy the hair follicle from the base? Because of this, there is no longer any kind of growing for the hair once the follicle is destroyed, and you can’t have ingrown hair without hair growing.
As far as the hair bumps go, they are essentially inflammation of the hair follicles, which, are destroyed during the IPL treatment. Basically, it goes directly to the root of your hair problems and simply gets rid of it, without the root (hair follicles, in this case), there’s no coming back of those hair problems.[sgmb id=1]
